Following the increasing demand for the 2.5-inch enterprise HDD series MBF2xxxRC in February 2010, Toshiba developed the 3.5-inch mounting frame to accompany small form factor HDDs. The sheet metal frame comes fixed with the advanced MBF2xxxRC drives. As of the launch date (9 February 2010) this Enterprise HDD family provides the fastest drive on the market (10,025RPM) and the highest capacity 2.5-inch form factor enterprise HDD of its kind (600GB).
The MBF2xxLRC supports business-critical, power-conscious and data-intensive storage applications such as mid-range volume servers, mainstream storage array and blade and rackmount servers. In addition, it delivers all the benefits of small form factor technology allowing for more cost-efficient energy consumption including a reduction in sound levels, better anti-rotational vibration performance and a cooler form factor.
The mounting of the device is very easy and fast: Existing 3.5-inch drives can simply be unplugged and replaced by slotting the MBF2xxLRC in its place.
